The Climate Resilience Research Center (CRRC), Syangja, organized a One-Day Beekeeping Training Program on Wednesday 17th June in Pakan, Ward No. 5 of Bheerkot Municipality. In total 35 local farmers participated in this training to build practical skills in sustainable beekeeping as a climate-resilient livelihood option.

The training sessions covered the basics of bee biology, colony structure, and hive management, along with the role of the queen bee, royal Jelly production, and techniques for disease prevention and boosting honey yield. The training was led by Mr. Shyam Aryal, an experienced beekeeper and entrepreneur from Waling Municipality Ward No. 11, who shared practical insights from his years of work in honey production.
A key part of the day was hands-on demonstration, where Mr. Aryal showed hive maintenance practices, walked participants through the different parts of a hive, pointed out areas requiring extra care and caution, and demonstrated honey collection methods. During the interactive training session, farmers also had the opportunity to discuss challenges they face, including low honey yields and colonies abandoning their hives. They received practical advice, guidance, and recommendations to help address these issues.

Participants found the training useful and relevant to their work, with many expressing confidence in applying what they learned to improve hive management and explore beekeeping as a source of additional income. CRRC remains committed to supporting farmers in Syangja through similar capacity-building programs that strengthen climate-resilient and sustainable livelihoods.
