Promoting Women-Led Livelihoods through Mushroom Farming Training

The Climate Resilience Research Center (CRRC) conducted a practical training on mushroom farming in Bheerkot–7, Dhuwadi, bringing together 23 local farmers. The training saw strong participation from women, with around 20 women actively engaged, highlighting growing interest in income-generating agricultural practices at the household level.

The training was designed to provide step-by-step, hands-on knowledge of mushroom cultivation. Participants were guided from the initial stages, including the preparation and proper use of straw, steaming and sterilization processes, and the importance of maintaining clean and controlled conditions during production.

The session also covered how to select quality spawn from the market and demonstrated the correct method of preparing mushroom packets. In addition, participants were informed about key precautions to follow during cultivation to ensure better yield and reduce the risk of contamination.

Farmers showed a high level of interest throughout the training, actively participating in discussions and practical demonstrations. The hands-on approach helped them clearly understand the process and build confidence to adopt the practice on their own.

The strong involvement of women reflects the potential of mushroom farming as an accessible and manageable livelihood option that can be practiced at the household level. Such initiatives contribute to enhancing women’s participation in agriculture and supporting their economic empowerment.

CRRC continues to promote practical, low-cost agricultural solutions that strengthen local livelihoods while encouraging inclusive and community-based development.
