The Climate Resilience Research Center (CRRC), in partnership with FutureWater and Practica, is implementing the Smart Sprayer project to promote efficient irrigation solutions for smallholder farmers in Nepal’s mid-hills. The technology aims to improve water-use efficiency, especially in areas facing dry-season water scarcity.

On 17 March 2026, the Agriculture Development Office (ADO) conducted a field test of the Smart Sprayer in Lamage, Putalibazar Municipality, with technical support from the CRRC team.

The test was carried out in a maize field where ADO has initiated trials on five different maize varieties. The site in Lamage, with its relatively flat and wider fields, provided suitable conditions to observe the sprayer’s performance and coverage. The CRRC team demonstrated the system and supported the testing process in the field.

The activity was attended by ADO Chief Mr. Prakash Bastakoti along with office staff. This was the first field test following ADO’s purchase of seven Smart Sprayer units. The team expressed satisfaction with the technology and its potential to support more efficient irrigation practices in the district.
